Certain objects have to be serialized?

Apr 10, 2008 at 11:06 AM
I am trying to create a memcached provider for dotnetnuke and have run into a few problems. I can store most objects without a problem however 1 particular object will not get put into the cache for some reason? It is the DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.TabPermissionInfo object. However if i serialize the object into an xml string it works without a problem. Any ideas on this?

I am not familiar with DotnetNuke code. One thing I can say is that class needs to have serializable attribute and all the members of that class needs to be
serializable also. If thats not the case it will fail.

Hope that helps.

Rupurt, Fahadaz is right re: object serialization. If the object you're trying to use has some stuff inside that it has no idea how to serialize, then it won't work. As you stated - u've had to manually serialize it, before it could be placed into the memcached provider.
